whats up with the 7950 gx2 card??

I think I saw it in either popular science or popular mechanics but I cant recall for sure which one but they mentioned this card and I was curious as to why I haven't seen much spoken of this card.

Not sure what you mean by...whats up with it ?......But it is highly used, has been since release. But no point in it now knowing the 8800 GTS is a bit faster.

well, I was curious as to whether it was a good card or not as I haven't heard much talk about it at all. every time someone asked about "what card they should get" I don't recall seeing it mentioned.

now how much faster is the 8800 and in what areas is it better??

ok, I just did a little bit of reading on it and its pretty much just 2 cards in sli mode it seems. so nothing too new here it seems.

It was a one-of-a-kind thing, but I think driver issues combined with the normal SLI issues some games have made it unappealing, plus I don't think it was ever that competitive on price. I've seen a lot of them go on the FS/FT threads but now that the 8800's are $250 or less there's just no point.

It did enable quad-SLI in some unique cases since mobos with 4 PCIe slots are hard to come by. But then again, real-world benefit from quad-SLI is even harder to come by.
