What's up with penises in movies these days?

Is it just me or are movies much more liberal about having guys' dongs on the screen during movies these days?

Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Harold & Kumar Gitmo, *cough* Sex and the City..all seem to have no qualms or realize that most guys have no interest in looking at another man's weenie on screen.

Is it done for shock effect, as in..ooh look at us we can show penises, or, um..why?
