I was at an Asian market buying some snacks (pocky, yan yan, Beef Jerky) and I saw on the shelf some Ovaltine. There was a lot of chinese writing on it but it also said "European Formula" on it. Is it any different from the Ovaltine you get at a regular supermarket?

I live by an old Ovaltine factory, it used to be abandoned and as schoolkids we would sneak in and mess around in there. They recently converted it into loft apartments :)

Ovaltine is tasty.

The European Formula Ovaltine is less sweet and more true to the original formula. The American version has been altered to taste more like Quik. Meaning, more sugar, less flavor. Many people from other countries don't understand Americans love for sugar.

From another site: "The Ovaltine brand has a story and a history as rich and appealing as the product itself. In 1904, a leading Swiss pharmacist called Dr Wander was experimenting with the nutritional qualities of barely malt, when he discovered its enormous potential. As a result of his work he invented Ovomaltine ('ovo' for egg and 'maltine' for malt) - or as we know it today, Ovaltine - to help combat malnutrition in children. Ovaltine was the first convenient and wholesome milk fortifier in the world." -Foodpakexpress
