I have a 4gig Corsair usb drive which is 3 months old and has worked flawlessly on all my pcs and continues to work flawlessly on all except my home desktop. I plug it in and Windows does not detect it or open it. I refresh explorer, nothing. I did the Add NEw HArdware wizard and found it on the list and it just says "this device is working perfectly" or whatever and then the only option left is to finish. But again. no drive. When I unplug it, I hear the windows sound effect for unplugging a device.

Again, it's just this machine. it still gets detected fine by everything else. It has not sustained any damage..

this machine is a windows xp pro sp2

edit: i've also tried several different usb ports, including one on the side of my monitor. all = no dice. I have several other usb devices which work fine: keyboard, mouse and when i connect my digital camera via usb it too gets detected.

right click my computer and click manage... then locate the disk management section... see if it shows up there after its been detected and is "ready to use"

you may just need to add a driver letter...

Yeah got it! It didnt have a drive letter assigned for some odd reason, once I assigned it one I was able to open it via it's context menu in that window. However it still wont show up in Explorer.... weird.
