That's the compression from DirecTV, not your screen.
This. DirecTV really compresses (some?) local channels...
I'll have to double check.Honestly I think it is the source material maybe. I have seen that happen on really compressed sources (aka Netflix).
Does it do it with a Blu Ray?

<-- Dumbass typed Direct but meant Dish...:$I have Directv, and never saw anything like that. What channel were you watching? Do you have Dtv or Dish network. The OP says Dish.
Hmmm, OTA, HD antenna...Either one is bad. Stick to OTA and blu-ray![]()

31-33 miles. RedWhat is the range to the stations you want to receive?

This may help you figure out what you need.
I have a 60" sharp elite, not the best, but not bad. I have an HD antenna that I stopped using, because dtv quality was on the same level as what got ota. In this area, the local stations have added many bs channels to their hd bandwidth, so hd is no where as good as it once was. I'm sure it's the same in your area too.It will show up on higher quality TVs with DirecTV on many movie channels that are heavily compressed. If you have a shitty TV, it's not an issue.![]()
So who do you have as a provider?Within the last 6 months. Not impressed.
