Whats up with my Tbird?!?!

Hey people. long time viewer, first post. ok. I have a 1 ghz (7.5x133) unlocked AXIA tbird on a Iwill k266. The farthest i can push my multipler is 8.5. anything above that and games like Bf1942 and CnC generals will load but once the actual game starts, it exits and goes back to windows. I've tired bumping the vcore to 1.85v, but no luck.. Can somebody plz help me.

Sounds like you just hit a limit. Not all processors are capable of a 20% overclock.

All it takes is $150 to get a very decent motherboard, and a very decent processor, and a very decent heatsink/fan. Spend another $100 on some very decent RAM and you can overclock even faster than the fastest AMD processor.

hmm... I can boot to windows at 1.4ghz and do anything... word, winamp, AIM with no problem.Its been runing the winamp avs visualization thingy for 10 hrs and no crashes. could it be that the 3d apps are holding it back? same thing happens with 3dmark2k1. it will load but go back to windows when benchmark starts.

then its not stable
if you try prime95 torture test, youll find its not stable as well (will error out)
