What's up with my mouse?

At work, I replaced the serial mouse on my computer with a PS/2 Intellimouse. I also downloaded the latest drivers from Microsoft. Now, it seems that when I left-click (I'm not certain if this also applies to right-click) it does a doubleclick every time I singleclick. For example, several times I clicked once on the top-left icon and it closed the window, or clicked once on the titlebar and it maximized the window. Any help? Thanks!

Mine does that too, but only rarely and only with the "back" button. I found that the precise way I pressure the button matters, so the cause has to be in the mouse's internal connection mechanism itself. My problem isn't serious, but if yours is then I'd return it for a replacement.

I own 3 Microsoft Intellimice and none of them exhibit this problem. I have to clean them every 4-6 months, but besides that they are hassle free.

The third one I just bought recently though and had considered the Microsoft Optical and Razer Boomslang 2000. I heard that the Optical looses tracking when you move it too fast and I tried one of my friends Boomslang and did not like how it feels. Even he doesn't use it for day to day use. So I stuck with my friendly Microsoft Intellimouse. I absolutely hate giving Microsoft money but it is the only mouse I have found that works for me. Every time I buy a Logitech it dies in under 4 months. One of them I RMAd a few times, but it got to be too big of a hassle. One of my Microsoft mice is 6 years old. Mouse Systems makes optical mice that last a while but they require that special reflective surface that one has to keep cleaning and they have to be held at the right angle to work.

On two of the systems I recently started using P2rate to push them at 200Mhz. I have not had any problems with that either.
