"Despite a host of mods and a recent add-on in the shape of the somewhat unsatisfying Half Life: Blue Shift, developer Valve has remained stoically silent over what, if anything, its plans are for the sequel.

Now, however, the games industry rumor mill is working overtime and the general belief is Half Life 2 will be ready in the first quarter of 2002.

With around three years to devote themselves to producing the sequel, Valve should have come up something special."
