ellipsis refers to ...
edit oh wait plural huh? mmm interesting
Ellipsis (plural ellipses; from Greek ???e???? 'omission') in printing and writing refers to a mark or series of marks that usually indicate an intentional omission of a word or a phrase from the original text. An ellipsis can also be used to indicate a pause in speech, an unfinished thought or, at the end of a sentence, a trailing off into silence.

I like to change it up sometimes though, and use .... because 4 is a much better number than 3. Best damned number in the world actually. 😀

Are you referring to a specific Oblivion enthusiast? I usually don't make note of a person's posting style, but their extensive use of ellispis and emoticons really stands out.

I admit I was once a prolific ellipsis abuser back in my early chat days. I still use them here and there, but I don't think I have a problem any more...

My early chat days turned me into a huge emoticon/smiley user 😛. The people used to use them so often (or for one-liners... such as 😱) that it just became normal for me to throw 'em in anywhere to create an emotional meaning/remove ambiguity.
