Why aren't the price of these things going down? I bought a stack of 100 DVD-Rs for like $85 a few months ago. Ritek G03's to be exact. Now, they've stopped making G03's, replaced them with G04's, but they cost $150 for a 100pack. The G04's burn at 4x, but still, that's $65 more.

Supply and demand. High price for a low supply.

EDIT: whoops, I ment low supply, not demand.

Actually it is a high price because demand is high... if demand is low manufacturers are forced to lower prices in order to entice consumers to buy... I'm no econ major but that is about all you "learn" from microecon...

Now for what the thread is about... I really cannot say why this would happen but if the G04s just came out then the supply might be artificially tight and the sellers might be taking advantage of this fact. Also since they are capable of a faster speed i would expect at least for a while them to hold a small price premium... Again the difference in price is so large i really couldn't give an exact reasoning...

I think we've just become a little spoiled considering the fact that a blank 4.7Gig Disc will run appx 1-2$ as opposed to a few years ago when it would buy us 650MB...Just bought 5 bundles with Cases of 2X for $4.99 this past week in a local store. When the high X's become more available the lower 1's will most likely go down.
