Whats up with Circuit City? Why do they only sell 3 video cards in all of their stores? I have been to 3 of em (ywo in different states even) and all the have it a stupid PNY PCI GF2, The new and horrible PNY GF4 MX440 and the crappy ATI Radeon 7200. Dont they know that other cards exist? Even their website list ony 4 or so types of cards and they NEVER have good ones in stock. I'm bitching because I have 200 store credit and want to get a GF3 Ti200 and not one has it! :)

I have seen better selection at some Circuit City's, but in general I agree with that tendency.
CompUSA has a better selection, in general.

Online ordering?

I think this is a general issue with all retail shops. If you look at the manufacturer margins on these products it is quite low to start with, due to competition. Retail requires the manufactures to cut further into their margins so it is a less attractive way to distribute products. The only way to make $ in retail is with very high volume low priced products.

I was talking to a colleague of mine whose company sells monitors into the retail market. He told me they have a 20 ? 30% return rate. Not because they have poor products but because people simply change their minds or find a better deal elsewhere. Manufactures cannot stay in business with those kinds of return rates.

This is a big reason why we do not sell into the retail channel. By selling factory direct we can save $ and pass the savings onto the customer.

Dell was the first Computer Company to figure this out and is the reason they are so competitive and enjoy a very large market share.

It's based on the very, very old folks sitting at the top of Circuit City...the buyers probably have no clue as far as computer stuff goes...anything related to computer stuff.

You know what, i work there and i still don't even know..;)

There just isn't that large of CC's market that buys high end GFX cards. The ordinary everyday 40yr old consumer just don't go out a buy that many GF 4 cards. We prolly get the majority of sales out of the ATi 7000 and ATi 7500 AIW (due to the video editing proformance, not the game speed)

Heck store 3173 in Wisconsin had 2 in stock the last time i looked on sunday..

EDIT: yup just check'd online, 3173 still has at least 1 in stock, my guess is the direct ship warehouse just doesn't have them in stock, my recomendation is to have the local CC employee check the local distribution warehouse or special order w-house and see if there is any in stock at either, if so, just get them to ship it to you or the store via speical order. If corporate doesn't see the demand at a certain store, they just won't put stock there.

Circuit City really doesn't sell much to computer people, they try to sell to home audio/video people.

Go to Best Buy and you'll see more variety.

<< People buy computer components at Circuir City? >>

LOL!!

Plus they never really carry anything in stock for UPS's.... Saw a good deal once and they were out, my brother tried buying RTCW there for $30 and they sold out in one day.... must of had one at each store..... Best Buy is definetly the place to go for me, maybe even Fry's now, went there for the first time and that is a huge store carrying everything!!!

Bah! I haven't bought components like that off-line in ages. I can always find a better deal at either online retailers or Ebay...

They do carry a PNY GF3 TI200 card. The brand/model is PYT VCGF3TI128.

$199 - $20 MIR = $179
