Canadian bacon tends to have very very little fat on it. Otherwise, it tastes similar to ham.

Canadians call it Back Bacon

"Regular" Bacon in Canada is called, uh, "Bacon". Many people wouldn't know what "Canadian Bacon" or "Back" Bacon is if you showed them some. It's not nearly as popluar as regular bacon... not even close. You'd probaby see more of it in the US then in Canada.

canadian bacon = peameal bacon = back bacon.... it taste like ham but with very little fat (it's even shaped like little ham 'steaks')
american bacon = plain old bacon.

My hubby orders peameal bacon when we go out for breakfast, and if they dont have it then he orders bacon.

I prefer sausage links, dipped in maple syrup though

canadian bacon = peameal bacon

Peameal bacon is PORK LOINS its the center/rib end of the pork loin except that the peameal is smoked/cured unlike regular pork loins. It is also rolled in cormeal also.
