So I've decided to upgrade to the Nikon P510. I want to get it from Amazon because of the no tax/shipping, but I want to purchase from Amazon directly, not one of its 3rd party vendors.

I've noticed that if I search for this camera, its availability changes day to day, and sometimes multiple times a day. Its price fluctuates also.

One day its a certain price from a certain vendor, then it changes to another vendor etc. Sometimes its available from Amazon directly, most of the time its not.

I think I'll wait until its available from amazon directly before I order. I would trust them more than any of the others. Just can't understand why they play these games.

Why not offer direct from amazon all the time as well as the others? :colbert:

It is available straight from amazon all the time.

Currently $429.

The difference that you're seeing is that amazon will list other vendors when it has no stock. You can order it from Amazon today, but it won't ship until they have stock.

Amazon will usually (always?) show the lowest price between them or one of the featured merchants. Merchants do whatever they want to do with pricing, and probably often times have a system in place to automatically lower their price if a competitor does, so prices can fluctuate a lot depending on what other merchants are doing.

You can see the full list of merchants by clicking on the "# new" button below the pricing info.

Looks like Amazon is on that list for $429.

There's something just not right about Analog wanting to buy a Digial camera, no wonder they're making it difficult for you. :hmm:

That is because you fail to understand digital is quantised analogue.

Yeah, just like atoms are mostly empty space, and therefore nothing can be truly "solid".

Adults understand the distinction being made when people talk about "digital" and "analog".

Not the same things at all. And you are taking ATOT way too seriously.
