I know someone who got his PHD in Engineering Technological Entrepreneurship. Really, it is an actual PHD.... I suppose its great because he is only 25 y/o....but still...why would you get PHD in that? Granted his background in in engineering (ME and BioMedE), but what type of job can this guy expect out of college?

Sounds like he's trying for a VP or upper management type job in a tech field. Such as a CTO or VP of R&D. He won't get that straight out of school, but it'll line him up for one.

Wouldn't a PhD just equate to a certain amount of research one has undertaken regardless what the field is and written a dissertation?

It's pretty much bullshit, from what small scraps of info I know.

True PhDs are about research, not "entrepreneurship."

All these new majors huh? You posted one. One. Thats it. Just one new major in your post. Now, you can either back up your statement with facts, or edit your title. Those are your choices. Make one. Everyone knows this.
