it's on my wall as I scroll down reading my friends posts.
around every 5th post theres an ad.

this is new. it wasn't like that yesterday.

anyone else?

edit:
ahh...... https://www.theregister.co.uk/2016/08/09/facebook_ad_blockers/

Facebook to forcefeed you web ads, whether you like it or not.
Facebook will circumvent browser ad-blocking tools to push web adverts onto people's screens.

adblock plus isn't blocking ads anymore. :(
any suggestions on what works to block in IE?

Many companies are now targeting FB, Instagram, Snapchat and so on. I have a friend who does social media marketing for local businesses in his area.

This reminds me of the guy who couldn't figure out why he was mostly only seeing ads for male singles in his area in his daily feed everyday.

FB basically uses the regular post system for ads, so it's very hard for ad blockers to block them. They're not exactly ads, they're just posts that you see even though you're not friends or subscribed to that page. TBH I think it's an interesting way of doing it since they are not really intrusive, and people can comment on them and such. So it's basically just a corporate post that shows up the same way as if you liked a page and you see stuff from that page, but it uses the tracking data to determine if you see it. That's where it gets creepy, the way they can track you and know every detail of even your offline life.

One example of tracking that recently freaked me out is one of my friends said his work dept is getting into brewing beer, this was a real life conversation and a bit after talking about it I started seeing ads for distillery equipment and stuff on FB. This more or less proves that they do listen to your conversations through your phone or something. I presume this is something by Google then they share the data, because I don't even use the FB app. I don't even go on FB much on my phone but if I do it's with the browser... but browsers arn't exactly secure these days so would not surprise me if a web page can initiate the microphone. I keep seeing solar related ads too because I've been thinking of going solar, though I've posted that on forums before so they probably got it that way so not quite as creepy as voice recognition, but still.

Speaking of tracking, how the hell do spammers/virus writers know so much, every time I order something online I get one of those fake UPS ship emails that has a virus. I laughed the other day because I got a knock on the door to go get a package and when I checked my email not long after I had one of those fake emails. "There was an issue delivering your package" suuuuure there was, I have the package right here!
