Whats up with all the RMA's at newegg?

I'm kind of worried about buying stuff from there, it seems like almost everybody has to RMA their stuff. Do you have to pay any fees when you RMA? Is there a better chance of getting a good working product when you buy retail vs OEM?

There are many RMAs from Newegg because of the volume they sell. Nearly everyone buys from them, therefore more things are broken. They handle it very well, my RMA should come in tomorrow in fact. There are no fees save the shipping back to them.

So I'm thinking of buying about 10 things in one package from newegg. Does this mean I have like 90% chance of something bad? Whats the chances in general?

The volume of sales that Newegg deals with doesn't increase the probability of you recieving a bad part, it just increases the frequency that a bad part pops up. Even so, if you were to get a bad part, their RMA system is very efficient and you should get a new, working part within days. All it costs you is the shipping to send the broken thing back to them.

I've ordered from Newegg for the last 2 years and I have yet to RMA any hardware. People usually aren't motivated to post about how great their buying experience was...just how bad.

No, you have more like a 1% or less chance, the chance is exactly the same regardless of where you order from (as long as it's a reputable company).

RMAs are caused by manufacurer defects and shipping company football games, not by Newegg employees wandering the stockroom bashing parts with a hammer.

If anything, newegg should be the most trusted in many cases including mine. Yes, I've ahd to RMA once, but it was painless, and since I needed it soon, they refunded me the current one, sent another one with free next day shipping and reimbursed me for shipping it back, all you have to do is ask them. You have the same chances with any other store of needing an RMA but your chances of getting it RMA'ed in time and conveniently, is much higher with newegg.

I've ordered three complete systems from NewEgg and have yet to return anything. System number four in still in transit by FedEx, so there's always a chance. I think NewEgg makes it easy to RMA, so people don't hesitate to buy things they know they might well return.

Ditto..I've had nothing but good luck with them.

ordered plenty of things from new egg I have never had anything wrong with any hardware I ahve purchased.

If at all possible, I order from Newegg first. Have spent about $1500 there over the past 3 years and the only time I ever RMA'd something, it wasn't even broken, I just thought it was. They took it back, sent a new one, no hassle at all.

Newegg does indeed roxxer your boxerz.

I've ordered a lot of hardware from newegg in the past, and never had to RMA anything. I'm fixing to place a fairly large order with them for a new rig I'm building and I'm crossing my fingers. They're one of the few excellent online retailers (mWave is another one) that ships to military APO addresses. Having to RMA something from Korea back to the US would really blow hehe.

I've actually bought a lot of their refurbished equipment, and I haven't had a problem yet.

I think on top of the high volume, there are a lot of finicky people that return things for no real reason.

I have ordered over 4K (separate purchases) from Newegg and have yet to receive a bad product, take it for what its worth.

You know what they say, a good response is worth 10 bad responses, as most people don't mention their good experiences

Do you know what a "blanket statement" or a "generalization" is?

I would judge Newegg by the many positive comments they receive on forums like this, and by their outstanding reseller ratings. Newegg and Googlegear are the only two Net resellers who I will recommend to family/friends because of the outstanding service I have received from them in the past.

Googlegear does faster free shipping (2 day as opposed to Neweggs 3 day), BUT, Newegg is always my first choice, as I have yet to order an item and not have it shipped that day, or the next....from $10 to $1000 orders.

You just have to pay the shipping to ship your parts back which kind of sucks if you got in on an otherwise good deal. The only time i've had to RMA with newegg was when I got a bad K7S5A. Then I got another bad one. Then another.... i suppose it was a bad batch, but I will NEVER EVER BUY another POS ECS board, even from a highly regarded place like newegg.

yeah i read all the faq's on the k7s5a and it really makes me wonder, why are people willing to put up with such garbage to save a few bucks? it's sooo not worth it.

Actually the one time I nearly RMA'd a product from newegg was with the ECS K7S5A...however the fact was that after a week of head scratching the problem was actually my fault 😱

Somehow I kept re-doing the wiring to the board and each and everytime I out two wires the wrong way around...even when I checked the wires I still did not notice!

Then one day I came back from work about to get it all packed up and sent back to newegg when I noticed the problem...oops..

One year later the K7S5A is running like a champ and most people comment how "snappy" the system is with it.

Ive heard lots of good stuff about new egg, i just wish we had and equivalent in the UK although Aria.co.uk have proved to be very good.

As a Brit working out of the USA (currently in Canada for 6 months) newegg are very good indeed. I'd say you normally pay the same price in Dollars as you would pay in Sterling.

I think they need a newegg credit card with some kind of cash back. So many people order so much stuff from them! 🙂

I have always had good luck, and I have never had to RMA, but I heard it was good.

I've purchased so much crap from Newegg and never had anything bad. The one time i did RMA something was I had a Lite-On 24x burner that went bad after 6-7 months (stayed lit, but it wasnt reading disc correctly, think someting got inside of it). I knew Lite-On were the people to call, but I called NewEgg anyway. I'll be damned if they didn't ask me to send it back and they'd send me a replacement. Not only that, but they sent me a freakin 48X replacement for no charge!!! So I got double the speed on a burner I had been using for over 120 days. I can't complain

Newegg is by far the best place to order parts. Their staff is extrememly helpful and their RMA process is the best I have ever found.

I'm another guy who has ordered several systems from NewEgg - never an RMA.

I have no insight into the statistics of RMAs to NewEgg, but I suspect that many are due to errors by first-time system-builders (improper board grounds, can't bother to read manuals, simple impatience, etc.).

In any event, NewEgg customers who have RMA'd seem very pleased with NewEgg's response to RMAs.

Just another opinion.
