Virus...? Obviously

I hear that 40% of all files on the "sharing" programs are viruses.

Ahh the trouble of free stuff!! :frown:

Yea and you can pick up a virus using Outlook, too. You just have to be alert.

LINK? Where did you hear such a claim? Do you really think that if half the files on all sharing programs were virii, that you'd have hundreds of thousands of people using them still? You would hear a LOT of complaining, even around AnandTech. What you said is just pure BS. Although it IS possible to get a virus from it, since any file can potentially be infected - but it's highly unlikely unless you're specifically surfing for pirated software titles or pornography.

yeah I download a gam- err... umm a "demo" using Morpheus that had a Trojan embedded in it, but NAV quarantined it and I used another setup program to install it... worked perfectly. Not that I use Morpheus for stuff like that tho

I hear we can catch viruses from webpages as well - let's all stop using our computers, cause there's a possibility that we get a virus!

Haven't people clued in yet that it's large organizations/businesses that get targeted more than anyone else? Talk to anyone who works at any large institute of any sort and deals with email. They'll tell you how much crap they have to go through and be careful for, and how much that comes in that is actually infected. Compare that to what you get at your residential/personal addresses and sites.... you get nothing.
