Its all part of a big argument, we want to level russia, and use it as a giant parking lot, and they are all upset about it.

They spy on us, we spy on them. We expel diplomats, they expel diplomats. Funny game we like
to play with the Russians every few years.

Spying on somebody you claim as an ally as Russia does the US, is dirty pool.

The U.S. spies on all its allies. It's a way of ensuring they're actually allies. I think this is just a publicity stunt...the American government wanting to save face for not discovering this guy a lot earlier.

You've got to have a place for the Suburbans and Expeditions to roam :)

It's dirty pool for the US to be spying on their allies, too. Guess I should have made myself more clear.

Besides, CNN is the spy for most people now. ;)

CJZ said it best:
"They spy on us, we spy on them. We expel diplomats, they expel diplomats."

And you thought the cold war was over. I am not a international political expert, but I would guess this has something to do with Russia working with Iran (See this article if you don't know what I am talking about). There has also been problems with Russia and the international space station because what they said they would make for the station took a lot more time then expected, or needed. Overall there has been many problems in the past year between Russia and the US, but most people shouldn't worry about it. This will be yesterdays news before you know it and Russia will just send more diplomats over to the US to replace those who are here. And the US will do the same if we are kicked out of Russia. This is just a game.

It's estimated that up to half of all Russian (and I'm sure many other countries) embassy personnel are actually Intelligence Operatives. Throwing out 40 "diplomats" is just a show of force and not a move to actually curtail spying. Those 40 "diplomats" will be replaced by 40 new "diplomats".
And you think the Russians are a problem? We've been spied on by allies also (Britain, Israel, South Korea, France). And let's not forget what we do (project echelon).
