What's too hot?

According to Western Digital it's above their operating range. It's running at 60-63c when im using it. I've send a couple emails to WD over the last two days but haven't heard back yet. Will they typically replace units that are running hot if there hasn't been a failure or issue yet?

Should I replace this thing?

I've got a newer version of the drive sitting right next to it with a 120mm fan blowing directly at the side of both of them. The newer 2500AAKS runs at 42c regardless of the position.

I'm no good with hard drives, but those temps are awfully high. I say back up whatever you need to back up and prepare for the worst. 40 to 42C seems to be normal hard drive operating temperature if I remember correctly.

Instead of sending them e-mails, just call WD.

According to their specs it's too hot. They still haven't responded so I'm going to have to call.

That drive has all my game installs and pron on it 🙁
Not looking forward to reinstalling everything.

Just FYI for anyone wondering. Western Digital will replace the drive if it is running over 50c consistently.
