ie: you were destined to kill your child, so you give him up for adoption. then 40 years later, you were the one that throws the switch in the electric chair, and find out afterwards that the person was you son.

foreshadowing destiny? destiny into reality?

what's that called

Well, If you knew you were going to kill your son, you could have turned down the executioner job.

Nothing personal, but I believe it's called bullshit. Nothing in life is written in stone. Every minute of every day has constantly changing circumstances that lead you in your journey. It is up to you to pick and choose which avenues to travel.

Cheers. :D

Well, if your son did something deserving of a chair, maybe you should've listened to fate and killed him while he was still young.

Self fulfilling prophecy

I think that's more when you are told something is going to happen, so just your thinking that it will happen causes it to happen.

That's not self-fulfilling prophecy.

A self-fulfilling prophecy is when something, once stated, causes itself to be fulfilled. Example: An analyst comments that he thinks a stock market crash is likely. There may be no real foundation for this statement but because it has been uttered, investors get nervous, sell off, and the stock market goes down. That's a self-fulfilling prophecy.
