What's this rap tune?

Just watched About a Boy again, and there was this rap tune in there that I was wondering about... It's at the end of the movie, during that school music festival and a bunch of kids are breakdancing to it...

It goes something like what, what, what, what, what, what...and then a bunch of talk... circa '97, I'd say. It was rather popular when it was released.

Anyone know what this song is called and who it's by?

Also, any suggestions for good rap songs from that same time period? I had some recorded to tape back then, but I have no idea where that might be. I've since not listened to rap very much.

Thanks

if its a song that uses a 'what' hook a lot, i can narrow it down to noreaga easily. he has about 3-4 songs that use it, its kind of like his moniker. not to mention this was a popular song back then. just to confirm my suspicion though, i went to imdb.com and clicked 'soundtrack listing'. i was correct. heh, ive never even seen this movie.

Wow, that was a lot quicker than expected. That sounds correct to me too... Any advice on good rap from that same time period?

im eating lunch now. watch this thread, ill try and post some in a little bit.

edit: around '97, here is what was popular in the mainstream..

jay-z's "in my lifetime" was out, and sunshine, who u wit and intro/million and one questions were out...

nas's "it was written" was also released a year earlier (96), and had: the message, street dreams, and if i ruled the world (feat. lauryn hill)

bone thugs n harmony "art of war": look into my eyes, body rott

outkast "atliens": atliens, elevators

cypress hill: boom biddy bye bye, hand on the pump, illusions

why do you keep capitolizing RAP like it's an acronym or something
For the same reason that you can't spell capitalizing.
My post actually had a legitimate question behind it, I thought I was actually going to learn something. Your post is just neffing.

There goes Popper, offended by someone's RAP ignorance.
care to explain what the hell that means? I fail to see the relationship between correcting someone's grammar and rap ignorance. Keep posting, you're making me look good

Thanks, anxi80. Were there any songs by them two together?

I remember a song (don't know who it was by) from this time period that said something like "I bailed out the county with counterfeit bills..." also, that same song (I believe) has that "who got the key's to my beamer?" line...

Any idea what I'm talking about?
