Whats this connector for? (xbox 360 controller)

Some weird proprietary connection? Why? My old 360 used USB as far as i remember.

thats just the proprietary breakaway connector so people won't trip over the cable and it breaks apart instead of tripping them.

Nothing proprietary about it either, its a mini-DIN connection. But yea it is a break away so you don't go yanking the xbox 360 into the air if you trip over the cord.

Breakaway connector. If you pull on or trip over the cord it will break away and pause the system. It was a heck of a lot better to have this on the original Xbox than the PS2 where the little one would play around in front of you and knock over your console lol.

The breakaway is immensely useful if you have stupid dogs that run around the couch when you play games. My two huskies constantly chase each other. I can't tell you how many times this breakaway has served its purpose. Mind you, I usually die in game when it happens, but the USB plug lives on!
