What's there to do in Montreal?

Me and my gf are planning on driving up to Montreal for the July 4th weekend (we're bad Americans). What's there to do? My friends say it's a party town (bars/clubs/etc.).

Any particular places we should check out? (And don't say St. Catherine's St. 😛)

We're going to be staying near McGill Univ. if that helps.

Well if you're gonna be near McGill, that's just about in the heart of the downtown core, but yeah, I can't name exact places off the top of my head but what your friends said is true, there's plenty of bars, clubs and such, it's got a great night life.

If you have a moment, Old Montreal is quite nice, got some small little restaurants and such, so that might worth your time during the day.

If you and your gf are fans of animals, then I'd highly recommend the BioDome, basically a zoo but with all of the world eco-systems contained within, and interesting and fun way to spend the afternoon, then hit up the clubs and bars at night.

Montreal is a crazy party city. Legal age of drinking is 18.
It's a city that doesn't sleep... regardless. Whatever time of day or night you'll always find something open and a lot to do.
 
Yep, if you're staying near McGill, you're right beside the downtown core. There are a bunch of cool things to do around there and the night life is awesome. You can have supper on Prince Arthur street if you walk down just a few blocks east through the McGill ghetto. There are some nice restaurants on the portion of Prince Arthur that's for pedestrians only and cobblestone paved. Afterwards you can just walk up St-Laurent or Crescent and find a club you like, there are a ton of them in that area. You should also visit the Old Port, it's really nice to visit during the day and you can rent bikes or rollerblades and enjoy the scenery. Of course, the Montreal Casino is another attraction worth going to (although I have to admit I'm not much of a gambler). There's also La Ronde if you're into amusement parks.
