I think its when the neighbor puts his silly speaker phone on, so that he can disturb as many people as possible!

The lights. I'm not fond of overhead fluorescent lights. The color and brightness give me headaches after a few hours of computer work. In an office, you have control over the color, brightness and type of light (direct, indirect) but in a cubical setting, you have don't have much control.

Noise never was much of a problem when I was in a cube farm. Speaker phone usage in the cubes was strictly prohibited. Actually, I find it noisier now that everybody has moved to real offices. Sometimes, I swear it sounds like there's a gd carnival out in the hallway :|

Not having one (they're actually quite roomy here) and being stuck in the server room.

Ah well, management is scared to come in here so I'm not bugged as much :)

The lovely aroma of your cube-neighbors microwaved leftovers wafting over the cube walls

Having cube walls that are too short. Here, they are only about 4.5 feet tall, so you can see the person's head next to you. I want to duck down behind the walls all the time so know one is tempted to tallk to me. arrrgg...

Cubicals suck.

Having a PC screen that faces the cube opening so you can't see people behind you and they can see you (and what you're doing).

Speakerphones.

However, the people in my group successfully drove away two different people who were in the next aisle by continuously complaining to them about their use of the speakerphone. They finally asked to be moved to another area rather than quit abusing the speakerphone.

We launched a three-pronged attack.
(1) Please don't use the speakerphone if you are sitting at your desk. Just pick up the handset so the rest of us aren't being disturbed.
(2) Please don't use the speakerphone if you have a bunch of people in your cubicle. Just go to a conference room so the rest of us aren't being disturbed.
(3) If I buy you a headset for your phone, will you quit using the speakerphone?

I can't talk on the phone without people listening in, and also it's harder to hide my net surfing.

The idiot spouse of a co-worker who can't comprehend the concept of voicemail so they keep calling over and over again until you get so pissed that you have to answer the phone and yell "HE AIN'T HERE! STOP CALLING AND LEARN HOW TO LEAVE A MESSAGE!"
