Kind of hard to describe that in the thread title, but whats the worse way you've received a package that someone attempted to (or not at all) for shipping?

I ordered about 25 CD's from one of amazons third-party sellers and well I got it with some of the worst attempted "UPS/FedEx/USPS/DHL Punt" protection I've seen for me personally.

They just took a box, filled it with the CD's and crumpled up some paper and put it in the middle dividing the CD's in half; leaving no protection on the sides, bottom, or top of CD's.

The result is 2 CD's on each of the sides are cracked and smashed. (1 of which actually broke the CD spindle on the inside; I'm amazed the CD didn't crack) On top of that they sent me 2 import CD's which aren't what I ordered and are of worse quality than the USA albums.

So now, I've got waste my time sending them back in proper shipping to get the correct item and hopefully they choose to ship it correctly this time...

Not mine personally, but it will be hard to top the famous stick of RAM with a shipping label taped to it.

I sent a duffel bag to my dad with my personal stuff when I left the ship to go to A school in Great Lakes. It had stuff that was not immediately Navy related and I didnt want to show up in school with a lot of crap. The bag went easily into a big box of theirs and had plenty of room for bubble wrap to protect it. Large but not heavy, I guess someone along the way decided to not do a good job with the handling. The thing was dumped off when my dad wasnt around. It was practically torn in two. He still doesnt know how the thing was even holding together. He didnt touch. Just took pics and sent off a nasty letter to the UPS people. They never responded.

Come to think of it, its been over 10 years since that day. Must have been real bad if I can still recall it with intimate detail.

A CPU wrapped in a napkin and stuck in an envelope. Yep, bent pins. Seller said "hm wouldn't have expected that..." Really?

You know, I think we bought from the same guy.... :hmm: Had the same thing happen to me, thankfully it was a junky Pentium 4, anyway.

Someone on these forums shipped me a hard drive in an old USPS VHS box with like 5 packing peanuts in it.

Hard drive was DOA.

I ordered a candle in a glass vase. It came in a box much larger than needed. No bubble wrap or fillers at all. Just the candle, vase, and an invoice. Needless to say, the box was crushed and the vase was shattered.

A trader on these forums shipped me a 3.5" hard drive inside the small flat rate priority mail box. The only padding was the ASD bag. :p

Was building my current rig about 2 years ago, the motherboard for some reason got shipped separately then the rest of my rig, just in it's plain motherboard box...when it arrived at my house the entire side of the box was caved it and had literally broke a piece of the corner off the board. That was my first and last thing I've ever shipped with DHL...

A few years ago there was a picture floating around here of a stick of ram with the address label stuck right to the side.

Some guy sent me an Intel CPU in the factory box with no tape or anything. Just put postage and my address. What an idiot. The CPU fell out of the plastic container, got all bent up and was barely hanging on the edge of the flap. Im amazed it was still in there. Got a complete refund and kept the CPU.

I got two Intel NIC's from Newegg that were thrown into a large envelope. They weren't in boxes, but were in plastic bubble packaging that were crushed from shipping.

They worked though.

I had a hard drive shipped to me from someone on this board a few years ago. It was pretty much shoved into a box too small for it so the sides were bulging out. One layer of foam around the drive. Damn thing was DOA. Such a hassle.

I got this from Amazon a few years ago:
thxamazon.jpg

I ordered two separate things that came like that. Apple sent my my copy of Snow Leopard in a giant box. Just to show off, NCIX put Windows 7 in an even bigger box. Padded envelopes would have done the job.

OMG LOL! me2!!!!
I've had newegg ship me small, OEM items in padded envelopes before. Amazingly they always work, but its still a little unnerving when you open the mailbox and see them.

sometimes packaging is so bad you wonder if the person packed it that way so the packaging would get damaged and then they can claim it was lost in the mail

Had a seller many years ago here at AT FS/FT Forums send me 3 x 3.5" Hard Drives, loose, in one of the large Priority Mail boxes.
I cringed when I heard & felt them flopping around in the box.
Naturally, all 3 were dead, though he refunded my money after I sent them back
