Whats the worst case scenario for flashing a card's ROM and failing?

I'm trying to overclock the GeForce 4 MX in my Mac and since there are no tools like RivaTuner and the like that allow you to overclock on a software level I have to use Graphicellator 2.3.4, the procedure is pretty simple:

1. dump rom
2. open rom with GraphicsAccelerator 2.3.4
3. change clock frequencies and save rom
4. flash rom

I do have a backup of the original rom (clocked at 270/200) and the card is working right now at 280/205 with the new ROM I flashed into it, however, what would happen if I set the frequencies to something the card could not boot to? Is that even possible? If it is, how would I flash the backup rom back onto it?

Also, do you think 10mhz (core)/5mhz (mem) increments are okay or should I just do 5mhz for both.

And for closure, a useless question, do you think a GF 4MX with passive cooling will OC decently?

personally i wouldn't bother you won't get much performance out of even a big O/C. . . but it is "safe" unless you mess up . . . then you need to boot with a PCI videocard to flash your MX back [for a PC] . . . IF no PCI card, you have to do it "blind" and may fail losing your card.

oops . . . wrong info for a Mac user . . . i gave info for flashing the card's BIOS.

At ANY rate, it is a waste of time[imo] since even a big O/C won't give a MX much . . . it's upgrade time. ;)

don't knock turbocharging moped engines . . . ;)
[70+ mph is possible]

i can't imagine what performance the OP wants out of a MX . . . :Q

Why?
