What's the word on Thermalright's new ALX-800?

That's exactly what it is! Reviews I've seen say it performs almost as well, too.

So, Im looking for a new HS for my overclocked 1800+, should I get the SLK 900a, SLK 947U, or the ALX-800?

Within 1C of the SLK-800, lighter, cheaper. I have yet to see any low flow tests done (in low airflow, the AX-7 could match the SLK-800), but so far it looks like a worthy successor to the AX-7.

All the reviews use a Delta fan.

Any ideas how this would work with a Panaflo L1A? Assume no overclocking.

Well, assuming that it does work as well as an SLK-800a, I had good results at a mild OC with my SLK-800a and a Vantec Stealth (roughly comparable to the L1A). It was extremely quiet.

Once I upped the OC, I replaced the Stealth with a Panaflo H1A, which has worked great ever since. The H1A at full speed isn't as loud as one would think!

Thanks for the info!

I have an L1A already, and I'm shooting for silent.

Now I need to deal with that stupid fan on my Radeon 9800. It's a damn aircraft in there.

I cant remember specifics but my SLK900-A with 80mm L1A kept my stock 1700+ at under 40C load iirc.

My 900A, AS5 and 92mm L1A keep my processor under 42C load. Load temp really depends on how hot my room gets and I doubt that even with my proccessor running at 210x10.5 @ 1.70-1.71 Vcore (actual) Id see it break the 45C mark whilst gaming.

LOL, I know the feeling!! I have to get a fan speed controller and I should be close to silent.
