The expected 9800GTX will probably not benefit much from it (like 2%).
The GX2 would probably HAVE to have it like the 3870x2. (not only is it bandwidth hungrey, but it contains a splitter that splits it into two 8x lanes... so sli on a bandwidth hungrey new card in 8x sli... or 8x pciev2, where v2 gives double the speed per lane... making it equal to two x16 v1)
