I need to take a 20gig drive thats partiontiond into a 13 and a 7, combind them, and format it in NTFS. how? I found the format option, but it wont let me redo the partitions. And I can't just drop to dos and fdisk like i did in win98.

Run MMC and add the disk management snap-in. I'm still learning all of this myself but I believe from here you can delete and form the new partitions, or combine them into one logical volume.

run administrative tools<computer management < disk management.
You can delete those two partitions and create NTFS later...

There isn't any solution to using a Floppy that can create NTFS partitions. The Win2k Disk Manager is too large to fit on a few floppies.

If you are actually IN Win2K, go with what zzzz says...

If you want to do this outside of Win2K, use Linux Fdisk!! It rocks, is very informative and easy to use!!

MMC also works, but that is assuming you are in Win2K, in which case zzzz's suggestion works also!!

Unless of course you want this drive to be your boot drive after the repartitioning! In which case, a third party S/W will work (like PartitionMagic), Or simply put that new drive as the first boot device and re-install Win2K. It will see it as the first drive, and allow you to partition it any way you fancy!!

Good Luck,

Buddha Bart, you can delete, create, and format partitions using the Windows 2000 Install CD. You could delete those 13GB and 7GB partitions and create & format a single 21GB NTFS partition.

If these are partitions other than the Win2K boot or system partition, you can do all of the above while running Win2K by going to Computer Management under Administrative Tool in the Control Panel. Click on Disk Management in Computer Management.
