Whats the very best PCI or AGP NIC card ? ( and whats the most customizeable ?)

i don't think is such a thing as an AGP NIC card.

As for PCI, any of the 10/100 offerings from Linksys, Netgear, or SMC should suit most people.

But then agian there's the 10/100/1000 cards out now too.

I think you are thinking f te new CNR (communications network riser) which is very different to agp.... and I would say, that unless you are using 1000 then I wouldn't bother...

AGP stands for Accelerated Graphics Port. There is a very good reason why you won't find any AGP NICs. :eek:

I haven't noticed a huge difference in benchmark performence for different Network cards, I have used the following and have been perfectly happy:

Intel, Linkysys, Netgear & Dlink.

AGP Network card lol :D
Yeah, steer away from CNR cards

Yeah.. would have thought SOMEone would have mentioned 3COM. Pricing doesn't seem that different today..

Tom's Hardware just did a review of NICs, there throughput and CPU usage. I think the 3Com 3C905-TX based card won for home users based on high throughput and low CPU utilization.

Intel probably wins for best driver support AND native driver support
in every WIntel platform...But you play more for Intel (and 3COM) than
for anything else...
