In Chronicles of Riddick in the video section says that my X800XL support shader 2.0 not
2.0++ is that true? Do I need to uprgade the drivers? My friend who has an 6800GT says that his card supports 2++.

Officially, SM2.b. It supposedly also supports geometry instancing, which MS has for some reason reserved only for SM3 GPUs. So it offers a little more than SM2.b spec.

Similarly, the GF6 series offers a little more than SM3 spec (namely, FP buffers and blending).

Yeah, that SM2++ mode in Riddick only works with GF6 cards for now. It also crushes performance, according to the benchmarks I've read.

I read that too although it doesn't seem to slow down my MSI 6600 GT too much when using the latest drivers.

I play Riddick at 12X10 0X0X with soft shadows on, but I haven't experimented with it much.

I've been playing Unreal 2 and Unreal 2 XMP mainly.

BTW- Morulis- you miss on soft shadows in Riddick, EXR HDR in Far Cry, and SM3 in Splinter Cell Chaos Theory. (for now)
