Could somebody post on the findings of the latest bios for the Epox mb please ?

I remember when the 521 came out and everybody rolled back to the shipping bios...

I still sit with my old bios and need to know if this one is worth the trouble.

1606 official vs. 1607 beta ?

Anybody??

tjll11a, I'm with you. Besides, Epox makes a point of saying in the text files with the bios updates "if you are not experiencing any problems then do not flash your BIOS". So I'd say stay where you are, unless more than one person comes forward and vouches for the 1606 or 1607 version.

Built a new rig couple of weeks back with the following components :

1.2 GHZ AMD "AXIA" Thunderbird
256MB Crucial PC-2100 CAS 2.5 DDR Non-ECC Memory
Enlight EN-7237 "Mid Tower" Case with AMD approved 300W Power Supply
Socket-A High Output Heatsink with bigger YS/Tech Fan
32MB ATI Radeon LE AGP Video Card
Linksys 10/100 LAN Card
TDK 12x10x32 CD-RW
Panasonic 16X/48X DVD-ROM

I was getting a memory bandwith of less than 600 mb. Went ahead and updated the BIOS (1606) and still the same. When I'd flashed and entered the CMOS setup, I couldn't even see the "High Performance" option but able to see the new BIOS startup screen, etc.

The FSB jumper is set to "133"
The Clock Multiplier and Core Voltage is set to "Default"

I have the following problems :

1. Anytime I try to change the DRAM timings from "Auto" to "Manual", my system becomes unstable.

2. When I try to increase the FSB beyond 140, my system becomes unstable.
