What's the stupidest idea or statement that you've ever heard from a coworker?

One of the people i work with is having a 'blonde day' of truly epic proportions today - of course, she is blonde, but i digress...

So far today, she has

1. Asked me when Cinco de Mayo will be this year. (no, i am not joking)
2. Told me about her great idea to make us all rich... jewelry for cats.
3. Asked me to come over and show her how to use AOL (for e-mail).

Hmmm... and there's still almost 5 hours left in the day for her to come up with something else... i have to admit, it's keeping me entertained, but it's depressing as well that she's on the same pay level that i am. Anyone else have an exceptionally, errrr... let's say 'naive' co-worker? What's the stupidest thing that you've ever heard on the job?

<< <Confused look on her face> "You mean you have to be on the internet to check your email?!?" >>

dude, score! you'll be in those pants quicker than 2 shakes of a lambs tail

When I was talking about a socket ( network programming ) , he ( the idiot team leader ) was thinking the one in the wall where you plug things into.

Golden Bear... sorry, i left out part of what i meant to say... i meant she was having trouble with email on AOL and wanted me to show her how to use it. Perhaps i shouldn't look down on those folks out there using AOL, but if someone needs to be shown how to read and write email on AOL, it's not saying much for their common sense... now, if she was asking for help compiling a Linux kernel or configuring a TCP/IP stack, i could see it, but not being able to find and click on the little picture of a mailbox?

I've had to help my mom learn how to use email on Juno. Of course she's totally
new to computers, so concepts like attachments, other domains, and storing messages
in separate folders were difficult for her to grasp. We haven't even begun to
move up to ideas like CC, BCC, and forwarding.

Clicking the little picture of the mailbox might be the easy part, maybe
she wants to understand what she can do beyond typing 'Hello World' and
hitting Send?

"I am too dumb to learn this." I hear it about once every few months.

Here's one I won't forget. A "friend" of mine (actually my friend's brother) claims he's a hardware nerd. Then I hear this:

You only need a heatsink for overclocking. My Celeron 633 runs without one.

I rest my case....

From a wannabe tech, "Yea, us techs need to know about NICs, VICs, SICs, and FICs." It took about 6 members to help me figure out that "FIC" was really "PHIC" as in "Phone Interface Card" AKA "Modem" to the rest of the world.

Same idiot, "Are you going to have AOL upgrade our internet to version 6?" Uhhh... yea...

From a finance guy, "$4000 for a new tape drive? Can't you have people not save and just reenter the information daily?"

From a know it all, "NO NO NO, I no vant der moving IP. Sharing der information give me der virus." Translation, he didn't want a dynamic IP because he thought IPs can carry and spread virii.

Many more available. Those came off the top of my head.
