Whats the story with fibrewire/firewire hardrives?

I just saw some and they seem only about 20% more expensive than a similar 7,200 spin IDE. I presume these require a firewire card installed? I dunno...also how do they compare to SCSI and a standard non-scsi 7,200 drive?
