I flashed my V6800 DDR Deluxxx. Asus has an excellent utility that runs in Windows (no, not DOS). If you want to use an non-Asus GeForce bios then you'd better go to GeForce FAQ and read up. Personally I wouldn't risk using a generic nVidia bios unless you are VERY comfortable with what you are doing. No offense meant but the fact that you are asking this question suggests that you should stick to the Asus bios.

Oh, just looked at the new and unimproved Asus Taiwan software download centre. What a dog's breakfast. The only V6800 bios shown is for the V6800 Delux and I can't find a note stating whether it is also meant for the V6800 Pure but I would bet that it is.

Try Asus Germany. It's a little better organized. You want Asus Germany VGA bioswhich I can't access right now. I keep getting Access Denied. They're probably screwed up after having those "l33t hakerZ" attack their site. I can't access the Asus USA site. There is a file in the German ftp directory named a68p04a.exe and an index file.

If I get better access to Asus and find a more definitive location, I'll post again. Good luck.

Thanks for the info. Yes i will only use the Asus Bios. The file is already downloaded and it's a beta Bios for the pure card only. The file is a68p04a.exe

If i understand what you said, i just have to run the .exe file and the upgrade of my video card will do by itself ?

Unless you are having system stability problems I would not flash the card's BIOS. Video card BIOS updates are typically only released to fix compatibility problems and usually do not increase the cards performance.

If you are not having problems I would not chance screwing up your card.

I only flashed my card to enable sidebanding. I agree that unless you know what the bios upgrade is supposed to accomplish, it's probably not worthwhile.

Thanks, i know, but i have random green spots flashing on the screen with D3D applications (game), and the Bios may help to solve the problem, i hope... (ref. GeForce FAQ)

Am i right with the procedure ?

Yep,

You will likely get a choice during the upgrade process whether to enable sidebanding. Other than that, you just run the *.exe and hope that you don't get a brown-out or black-out. Have a boot floppy handy with the original bios on it just in case. Good luck.

By the way, looks like teh Asus Taiwan download site is back to normal.
