up 'there' ? you do realize how big the country is?

what province? it varies.

ontario, it's:

50km/h on any road unless otherwise posted, or 80km/h on those back country roads if not posted...

100km/h on highways, but there are some with 80km/h.

40km/h in most school zones.

there's also weird speeds like 60, 70km/h posted in some places.

In quebec its

100km/h on all highways with a median inbetween (60mph)
90km/h on long country roads where theres not much traffic
70km/h on any dirt road where the limit is not posted
50km/h every where else except school zones
30km/h in school zones.

The cops usally tolarate up to 20km/h more then the speed limit. But I don't go more then 15 over just in case.

However fast the dogs can go and you can safely navigate the igloos, polar bears, and hockey teams

ITs a subjective thang. .
My cop buddies tell me RCMP won't charge till you hit 117 km cause speedos can be out 10 kph easily, BUT if they are b1tchy and its quota time they drop it to about 110 kph
He also says if they are coming at you head on they are also way less likely to stop you cause of the hassle of turning around accelerate to catch you etc.
But 100 kph posted, sometimes 110 in daylight hrs post and if in doubt 80 kph shouldn't get you in any trouble.

i looked at map, it looks like i'll be taking 17 from Sault St Marie towards Ottawa, then 40 to Montreal
unless some one knows a faster way

my friends also need to know about pot in Montreal.
is it legal, can you buy it anywhere?

Not legal, BUT decriminalized. .
So you pay your fine and move on, but I'm not too sure what they'd do to an American though.
Yes different rules apply, just like when we used to get our asses thrown in jail in Montana and ND, the local boys wouldn't have been locked up for the stuff we did.

Wow, SENSIBLE speeds for school zones. It's almost always 15mph (24km/h) for school zones in the US. I don't know what the heck they're so nervous and anal about...like some kid is going to jump out in front of my car and I won't hit them if I drive 15mph, but I will if I drive 25mph.

After all of the snow and ice melts in late May, we bring out the Model T's for a spin.

:)

The speed limits here in Alberta are generally 110kph on all the divided highways and 100kph on "lesser highways". City speed limits correspond to your American 35mph, around 50-60kph depending on the zone. The RCMP's are terrible along the highway between Edmonton and Calgary, but you will routinely see people doing 130-140kph on that one without breaking a sweat.

Do you have a RADAR DETECTOR??? :)
