I had two jobs that I quit after 1 day... both sucked and I couldn't bring myself to do them.

1st time was a movie theater job, I got free tickets to see movies (even at other theaters) but the pay was crap (min.wage ~$3.65 I think). I was ~16--- I figured I saw enough movies to make it worthwhile but working the concession stand was the worst. I expected it to suck, but, not that bad... the job was to basically stand around and do nothing for 1.5hrs, go crazy for 30 minutes, repeat.... then the end of the day had to clean up all that greasy crap... no thank you.

I had two other friends who got jobs at the same time, one other one quit after one day and the other didn't even bother showing up after we said it sucked so bad. All three of us had other jobs, this was supposed to be a suppliment and for the movies... we just worked more hours at our other job, and saw more matinee's. I did learn that they use 'celery salt' to flavor the popcorn. I also learned they do their inventory by the amount of cups they sold and that you could never give a customer a large cup even for water... but employees could drink as much soda as they wanted w/ their own cups (if you brought one in).

The 2nd time I got a job at modem-manuf way back when. They brought me around for orientation and every person I met said you'll hate this job, and welcome to hell, etc... Then I was supposed to do tech support but when it came time to start they put me on this switchboard and my role was basically an operator and to listen to folks bitch for being on hold too long. At least doing tech support you can help people this was just listening to gripes all day... not for me!

Your turn...

I have done several stints as a temp, one of my favorites was also one of the shortest. I was working in the basement of a local coffee house reparing the large commerical coffee makers. My little shop was right next to the roasters, upon completion of a bacth of fresh roasted coffee beans the roasters would make a single pot and pour out one cup for the boss, the rest went down the drain. The drain they poured it down was the sink in my shop, I merely had to stick out a cup and they would fill it with fresh roasted fresh brewed hot coffee...YUM, I was on a cafine high the whole 2 weeks I worked there, can't even remember the pay, but I left cause I nailed a real job.

I had a job at a small local airline as a baggage handler. But there were various things to do around the place besides throw luggage. So me and this other guy got trash duty. We loaded all the trash into the company van, and flipped a coin to see who would drive. I drove. Pretty fast.

We get to the dump and the lady at the gate checks us in. I made sure to drive slow until I THOUGHT we were out of her sight. I stomp on the gas and tear up the hill in front of me.

So we toss the garbage and head back, again, driving slowly around the scales at the front of the landfill. We get back and start filling the boxvan with trash again (there was a lot), when my boss approached me.

"It looks like we don't need you after all."

Apparently, somebody that worked at the dump had called in a company vehicle that was driving "wildly". Whoops!! That job was a bitch neway.

I quit a job after one day. I worked one full day, came in the next morning for about an hour and then quit.

I really needed the job too, but the job duties and responsibilities were not what were described in the interview.

They must have really needed someone because they feed me a bunch of BS. It was terrible and I couldn't stand it a minute longer.

It?s a pretty well know company too Id say. I could not believe how unorganized and what a small operation it was.

I don't regret it at all. I later landed my current job with a very solid company and couldn?t be happier.

I was a dude (gas pump attendent?) that fills your car at a gas station for a day. I didn't have sufficient ID so was declined further employment. I got my pay for the day in cash though.

One day as a grunt on a construction crew.

Wasn't that I couldn't hack it, I had just graduated college and was waiting on two call backs for jobs. I needed some $$ and a friend of my father's asked if I'd like to do some work for him. He knew I could leave at any moment so it was no skin off his back. I had a message waiting for me after my first day on the job asking me if I could start at one of the other jobs.

Pretty short for me.

My friend and I had a job at the same place and the boss was a real F&^K. So when 2 employees left we just didn't turn up for work again either. They had no-one else to work so he had to do our jobs as well. Needless to say he was P*&sed off.

worked for an ice company for 4 hours one day...you know, throwing ice into the big ice freezers outside of convenient stores? After 4 hours of throwing 8lb bags of ice, I couldn't hardly lift my arms and walked off the job. I spent 3 days in bed after that because I was so sore, I couldn't move. I guess what really did it for me was after we/I had finished with the truck, it was time to fill it back up from the 18 wheeler trailer. Well, when I started doing that, the boss walked across the street to get himself a hamburger while leaving me there to put 1500 bags of these 8lb bags of ice in the truck by myself. Well, that pissed me off, so I left. Good thing anyway, I couldn't move.

i worked a large printing press for like 3 days
its a factory where they print rolling stone, espn the magazine, some other mags, a lot of them actually.
my job was to move stacks of rolling stones packaged up by zip code as they came out of the bindery.
we would stack all the mags on palettes, and a fork lift driver would take them away. i swear the whole 3 days i did florida the whole time.
it sucked, 8 hrs a day moving rolling stone magazines, i got tired of seeing thom yorke's face thousands of times.
so i quit that job after 3 days.

4 hours I hired on to a construction outfit that was laying gas pipe line it was a 6" in city line the joints were to be welded in one pass and then a filler bead was supposed to be run before testing and wrapping. He wanted just the first pass then wrapped before testing. By noon I decided I did not want to do illigal things and quit he got really pissed, certified gasline welders are hard to come by so I turned him into the city engineer and he lost the contract. Revenge is sweet.

Applied for a job at a pizza place in college... guy told me to come back in 2 weeks if I didn't hear from him, because he might forget or something (real nice operation he was running there). I got a job at Subway a week later, then the next time I went into the pizza place the guy said he had me on the schedule. Gee, thanks for telling me. Obviously I kept the job at Subway and didn't work at the pizza place.

Burger king. 2 days. Got into it with the manager. He threw a rag at me, and I threw patties back at him:D

delivery boy for small town german restaurant.

After 3 hours of delivering late (and sometimes still frozen) foods, i walked into the kitchen to tell my boss where to shove it. Instead I walked in on her (a HUGE german lady) gettin nailed by her 4"8 tall black boyfriend. (on the island table in the kitchen, lots of customers in the dining area)

I walked out and announced to everyone in the dining area that their food will be late because the chef and the owner were porkin in the kitchen.
Many people followed me out :)
