Someone go pick a fight with a dog and shove a few fingers up its ass, do it for science. But, it's not science if it's not verifiable, so no video = no care.

Just the finger? Amateurs. Proper technique involves not stopping until you reach your elbow. In the unlikely event the dog maintains it's grip, just grab whatever feels important in there and squeeze away like it owes you money.

Seriously though, a sharp blade slid into the mouth, edge facing the back of the dogs throat will either get it to let go from the pain, or you'll sever a lot of ligaments and tendons serving the jaw and get an immediate reprieve. Or just cut it's throat. Stab in behind windpipe, push edge-first away from the neck. If your pocket knife blade is 3" or longer, go through an eye for a brain kill, that might be the easiest way.

Personally, I'd do my best to stay calm while my dog proceeds to eat that dog.

Wiggle around and scream. Then grab it by the head and start punching. That one comes stock in the human brain instruction manual called instinct.

Punch the eyes? Oh yeah he'll let go.

Dogs head aren't that big. I figure one of my fingers through the eye socket will find the off switch somewhere in the brain.

Grab the lower jaw and break it off like King Kong did to one of those T-Rexs in the PJ film.

Quickly make friends, doggie style. This involves lifting its tail and sniffing it. Be sure you get some brown on your nose in the process. In a critical situation like this, it's the only way.

Dogs actually have pretty weak jaws. What they have is massive neck and chest muscles. If you keep advancing instead of pulling away, they can't get much purchase. If you can get them off their feet, they're pretty helpless.

Certain dogs maybe, but I'm not sure a pitbull has a weak jaw... I know my st bernard can chew through a solid piece of oak furniture in a few minutes. Learned that lesson the hard way when she was a pup. I do agree that pushing into the dog is a good idea. Get it off balance and try to get its tail. Dogs hate having their tail grabbed and it will let go if you get a good hold of it. Then lift. Honestly though a boot to the face and telling it its a bad dog and needs to go home works on the dogs on my street. Couple of big ones get out sometimes and try to harass my dogs and I have to regulate.

Its ironic that asian people are usually so passive, but their dogs are so nasty. I swear all the worst dogs I've met have some sort of akita or other asian dog breeding in them.

What would Jesus do?
Forgive the dog. After all, he's just drinking his blood and eating his flesh, that's happening the world around, no reason to get upset!

The majority of Akitas I've met have been dicks. One attacked and tried to kill my friend's Husky for no reason. :(

The vet I used to work for refused to treat Chows (unless it was an emergency) because he had been bitten by them multiple times.

Happens fast. I got ambushed on my bicycle by a golden retriever. It had a good hold on my foot. Grabbed my air pump off the frame and hit it once on the head. Dog yelped and took off. Took only a second or two for the whole thing, I wasn't even at a complete stop until the dog was running off.

After that I started riding with a piece of rebar under my top frame rail. Never have gotten a chance to use it though. Figures.

I'd argue it's the older, primitive breeds that can be incredibly nasty, but yeah, many of them come from Asia.

The only people that should go anywhere near a Caucasian or Tibetan mountain dog are the people that have raised it. All others should keep their distance, especially if they have their own dog with them. My sympathies go out to anyone that pisses off a full grown male ovcharka. They're like the canine version of Genghis Khan.

Pull out your pocket knife and gut it in one swift stroke.

...and before that dog bleeds to death it will disfigure or kill you. I can't even gut a bass with one stroke. They all have a pretty high pain thresholds too. You've got to either ruin it's biting ability or kill the dog outright.

I've seen a lab/husky mix with broken rear legs/hips and with broken ribs sticking out of it's side drag itself snarling and snapping towards the dazed guy that ran into it with a motorcycle.

Never underestimate a canine's ability to hang in there long enough to get even.

Some guy was walking his dog off leash, it looked aggressive, and I thought of this thread. Then I thought about how if it tried to bite me at that instant, I'd have tried shoving my arm up its ass and coming on here to tell you how it went...
