What's the reference to Saturn in The Grudge (from the Lateralus album) all about?

I enjoy reading, but usually pop fiction... I'm admittedly lacking in Jung & Nietzche (god, I can't even spell it 🙁) books on my bookshelf... This song really speaks to me, but the references to Saturn are a bit boggling... Any and all other discussion of Tool & APC is welcomed as well.

Well, Tool lyrics are pretty abstract, so its hard to tell. I would guess it has to do with some god? I don't know, it could be referring to something that I'm not very well versed in (obviously).

In any case, that song is hella awesome.

Song Meanings - The Grudge

Just people throwing various ideas about the song. Maynard isn't exactly into revealing the meaning behind his lyrics, so this is the best I could find in 10.39 seconds.

Saturn is similar to the Greek word Kronos, or time. People often refer to him as the god of time. Make a little more sense?

i had a girlfriend who said it had to do with renewal and rebirth. looking at the song meanings website, it looks like she wasn't the only one who picked up on that reference.
