What's the recommended (average) temperature for MB and CPu?

This applies to Athlon 1.4 without being overclocked.

My friend says CPU temperature should be around 120 F and motherboard should be around 85 F. Is that true? Or normal? or average?

i find 50 C the threshold for my processor, its normally at 40 but works fine up to 55 (it was a very, very hot day!) compare your readings with your room temperature. If im wrong, please correct me but i think they should be within +5C.
