What's the purpose of a transducer?

Do they even create bass or just shake stuff? I do know they're expensive little buggers though.

the question you are implicitly asking is this:

Is enjoyable bass mostly vibrational in nature rather than audible when it is in the infrasonic frequency range? For instance, a 12hz tone at 90db I can experience, but I can't get a musical pitch out of. I know its there when its there, I know when it is missing.

You're definitely not going to realize a pitch for sure. That has to be in the mid twenties at least and even then it's really, really low.

I finally did get around to recording that low frequency vibration we have. It's centered at 11Hz and reaches over 120dB. It's very audible at the level. When I talk it sounds like I'm speaking through a slow fan. :Q

OP: Those things are like the fanny shakers. At 60Hz they'd probably cause a different type of sensation! ;)
