When I was playing FEAR lats week, it froze once and I couldn't ctrl alt del or minimize at all. I tried alt tab, didn't work. So I just rebooted my comp. Last night I was playing Quake4 and it froze again, same thing happened... and today I was playing Quake again and the same exact thing happened. My CPU temp after about 3 hours of Quake was around 41c. It doesn't freeze doing anything else, only gaming. It doesn't freeze when I'm playing CS or doing anything else with it... i've only experienced it with FEAR and Quake4. What's the problem here? My system is:

A8N SLI Deluxe
eVGA 6800GT @ stock
2GB Mushkin Value ram (3-3-3-8)
XP-120 /w Panaflo U1A
Audigy 2 ZS
2x80GB Maxtor's in RAID 0
OCZ 520W Modstream
AMD 3500+ @ stock

 
sounds like your video card is overheating... try blowing a fan across the top of it.. or when it freezes hold your hand over the top of the card to see if the air is extremely warm (do not touch the card .. almost as stupid as touching a hot stove)
 
Yep. Sounds like vid temps. CHeck to see if the heat sink is warm. Check for possible hot dead spots where the air is just sitting there. Etc.
