What's the problem with DirectX 8.0?

I understand some people are having a problem with DX8.0. Anybody know what it is? I'm deciding whether to install it, and if it's something that would be a problem I'll avoid it. I'm running Win2000 dual boot with 98.

It varies with individual. For one it's because they don't yet use DX8 certified drivers. For another it might be a bug. It's always best to wait for the first update after a major release of anything: OS, appliation, DX8 api. Give me DX 8.0a and maybe I'll bite.
