I got a PIII-800, an Abit BF6, a CL Geforce 2, and 384megs of Micron PC133.. I'm having trouble getting the CPU much higher than 905mhz or so.. And I am not sure whats the cause of the failure. I have tried 2 different BF6 motherboards, 2 different PIII-800 processors.. both of them will only hit 905 or so without locking up in games.

I can boot up to about 960mhz or so, but whenever I go into games like Quake 3, it just locks up when I am running above 920 or so. I am thinking of trying another Geforce 2 card, but 112mhz for the AGP doesn't seem too out of line.. I am starting to think its just the limitation of the processor.. But what gets me is that the processor is not overheating, I have a massive heatsink on it and it never gets above 104-106 degrees.. and the fact that it doesn't seem to lock up except in games.

BF6..

Soft Menu III..

Make sure you have "Normal" selected in the CPU Soft Menu III, and not "Default" or "Fast".

That's what did it for me = P3 450@600MHz @ 2.05V on an Alpha P3125. 1/4 PCI, 2/3 AGP (89MHz), PC100 CAS3 SDRAM @ 133MHz CAS3.

Hope that helps.

Have you tried increasing the core voltage?

Have you tried a different GeForce or tried underclocking it?

Perhaps try removing some of your RAM to work with just 1 stick (at a time).

Yeah threw the core voltage up to 1.85, no change.. Thats another reason why I was thinking the CPU was not the problem.. I guess I really shouldn't bitch.. 900mhz is still pretty damn good.

try increasing your i/o voltage a little bit maybe .2 volts so you can feed your geforce what it needs to work at higher buses. My geforce would only hit 115 mhz bus with a 2/3 agp bus ratio for a while but i have slowly worked my way up to 120 bus.
