I walk/run/MTB all the time. never have socks on they are uncomfortable. I wear Birkenstocks most of the time. When i can wear them i wear Boat Shoes. none require socks

I haven't worn socks in about 5 or 6 years. To keep my shoes from smelling I put in a little baking soda.

oh crap....gotta put the clothes in the dryer!

Oh...and socks keep your feet from getting blisters.

Unless you're on a beach, in which case socks make you look like some metal-detecting retiree.
