I'm not targeting any specific religion. Are you saying that most religions don't promise life after death (as an incentive)?Originally posted by: mjquilly
so people like yourself have something to do. religion does not always have to include the belief of an after life, so i'm assuming you're targeting a particular religion? who says you have to fallow a religion to belive in an after life? wtf am i bothering responding to this...

Is it because we can't face our own mortality so we assure ourselves of a life after death?
And YES, I know good people who are atheist.
Yes, I really believe that.Originally posted by: DiamondJ
Do you really believe that, or are ya looking for a huge thread?Originally posted by: her209

It can be seen two ways. Its good that it keeps people doing something bad. But it is also used to control people's actions which a lot of times is not in the best interest of the person.Originally posted by: HappyPuppy
I consider the concept of life after death to be more of a threat than a promise. If you don't believe in life after death, then there is no reason to fear death or be apprehensive about dieing. If you do believe in life after death, then you have to worry all your life about what kind of life you are going to have after you die.
Simple.

this question is too ambiguous. You need to be more specific
The question is in regard to a promise of life after death... do we believe in it because we don't want to face the fact that our body (and possibly, our soul) will be gone forever once we die.Originally posted by: vtqanh
