what's the point of a street date?

seriously? why have it released on may 2nd if most stores won't have it on the shelf til the 3rd or 4th? why not just let stores release it when they get it? it's ridiculous. "well we should have tomorrow, maybe the next day." what? it was released today... most people got their copies a few days ago if they pre-ordered (which i would have done if i'd found out about the game sooner than last weekend).

unfortunately ubisoft isn't as advanced as valve, because if it was released on steam i would have had it preloaded over the weekend and i'd be playing it today, not wondering when it was going to be actually for sale. hell i'd probably get it quicker if i ordered it today from amazon.

edit: put the wrong release dates. my mind is stuck on my final on the 5th i guess.

you can pre-order from direct2drive.com

dunno of the actual release date from there though.
plus you can get Farcry or Prince of Persia: Warrior Within for free if you pre-order from them.

edit: estimated availabilty from d2d is today but no updates yet.
