What size has the most bang for the buck? I was looking at pricewatch and it looks like the 60 gig wins.

OuterSquare, I went to Mwave and got prices for the Maxtor DX740:

20G = $77 = $3.85/G
40G = $96 = $2.40/G
60G = $125 = $2.08/G
80G = $168 = $2.10/G

On a strict $/G basis it looks like the 60G is the deal, just as BrunoPuntzJones said. Practically anything in the 40-80G range is pretty competitive, and the decision would be based more on needs than $$.

The trends basically seem to favor 1 - 2 platter designs. The less materials used, the more cost effective it is to produce and sell. With 40GB platters being the norm, Bruno is right about 60GB.

Look in the hot deals; there's a 120gig for like 95 bucks after 100 MIR. I just bought an 80gig for 200 + 75 MIR; 125 for an 80gig isn't all too shabby...

Well! .... foof! ... I'm glad I got the best deal...

Now all I have to do is fill it up with something :Q
