What's the noise level difference from 45dba to 47dba?

10db is typically considered "twice as loud" by humans.

In the land of speakers, to achieve an increase of 3db, you have to either: double the power, or double the cone area while maintaing the same power level.
For fans, I asume 2x 45db fans would net you 48db, however, as ElFenix said, it's usually the frequency of the noise rather than the noise itself that is most annoying.

If I remember correctly: 45db +3 = twice the noise level/energy of 45db

It's still suprising that these Western Digital SE drives are so loud! It's 47 dba. I wanted to get the Seagate 15k.3 in the future, and it's 2 dba's quieter. Aye, i have to find a way to silence it all!
