What version of Nero and what CDRW? I had the same problem till I upgraded to the newest ver.

I was using like 5.5xx or something with a Lite-On 48x32x32 CDRW/DVD

To answer your exact question, it depends what you are trying to do..

Good programs include CloneCD, ISObuster (instead of burning an ISO)

Others Im sure will recomend others.

I use Nero, CDRWin, or CloneCD depending on what I need.

If you're using an older version of Nero 5.5 that was bundled with a Lite-On drive, and your new drive is also a Lite-On, you can update the software at Nero's update page. This version was also bundled with many other drives, but not all of them. I know AOpen drives use a different bundled version. The bundled AOpen versions I've seen have a blue label.

To see if your drive is included in your bundled version, find the file, mmc.dll in your Nero folder, and search for your model number in the file. For example, search for the text string, LTR- (including the hyphen). That covers LTR-48125S/W 48248S, etc., as well as a lot of earlier models. You'll also find other manufacturers' model numbers. Whwn you update it, it will work with an LTR-52246S. :)
